The Polaris World Team started the Dutch Grand Prix at the legendary Assen circuit today. As one of the most emblematic circuits of the MotoGP annual calendar. After the bad weather that that hindered and all of the riders suffered in the last MotoGP at Donington, the team have been able to enjoy a day without rain or bad weather.
Bradley Smith in this first day of official practice at Assen has achieved a remarkable second best time stopping the clock at 1:39;45.873 just 0,340 tenths of the fastest time. For Smith, after the bad taste that was left after the results obtained in the last Grand Prix in Donington, again found himself very comfortable at the controls of his Aprilia.
In the 250cc category, Mattia Pasini began the day finding it hard to adapting to problems he was having with his bike. The Italian hopes to time to find tomorrow and solve the problems that have relegated him to the seventeenth position with a time of 1:39;41.633 and two-seconds off the winner.
Bradley Smith – 2nd - 1’45.873"At the moment, it seems that the bike has gone backwards to what we expect. I think at Donington we lost the right direction, but looking at the positive things from this morning and we've done very well, I have a good felling, the bike is perfect, maybe we have to fix something in the suspension but nothing major. I have never been able to get the best draft from the riders to help me, and this is a circuit in which these factors are important."
"I am very happy, I'm just 0.3 tenths off first, which is not much. I hope that tomorrow the weather conditions are similar to those of today to further improve my times."
Mattia Pasini – 17th - 1’41.633 "Frankly, I cannot be positive with my situation. I am not happy with the performance of my bike but I hope that tomorrow we can find problems that affect me and respond appropriately to be good for Sunday. Although attempts to maximise speed, it is impossible to find a good felling and riding is very complicated. We must work hard, although I am sure that we will achieve our goals."
