The high flying Lakeside Hammers Speedway team are to throw open the doors for Free Admission to the often unsung heroes that look after the community.
The Hammers will be featured live on Sky Sports on Monday 30th June, when they take on the reigning British Champions, the Coventry Bees, at the Arena-Essex Raceway, and the Club has issued a rallying call to all their service friends in a 999 Special. All personnel from the emergency services or armed forces will be granted free entry to the meeting for themselves and their immediate family on production of their service ID card.
Hammers Community and Commercial Manager, Mark Sexton, was thrilled to make this gesture stating: "Speedway is very much a community sport, and this is our small way of showing our appreciation to those who perform these vital, and often very difficult, duties in an effort to make all our lives and communities safer and more pleasant. We're looking forward to seeing as many fire fighters, police, ambulance, coast guard, and armed forces that can make it down to the Raceway. We can guarantee they won't be disappointed by the fantastic Speedway action displayed on the night."
The Hammers, currently lying third in the Sky Sports Elite League, are looking for a positive result against The Bees to continue the pressure on the two clubs ahead of them as they all vie for the precious play-off places.
All the action starts at 7.30 pm, with the riders' introductory parade ten minutes earlier at 7.20 pm.
