Britain’s Graeme Gowland made his debut on the Berry Racing Honda CBR600RR at the Nürburgring in the sixth round of the World Supersport Championship. The weekend proved to be hard as Gowla had not tested the new bike so he had to adapt to it and find a base set up over the race weekend as well as learn the circuit which is new to the Championship.

Gowla qualified in 29th place, after varied weather conditions throughout the weekend, for the 19 lap race at the German circuit. The race got underway in dry conditions and Gowla hung back to avoid the expected mayhem in the tight first turn which did occur when wildcard rider Arne Tode took down five riders and this brought out the red flag.

The restart got underway and the full field got around turn one safely this time. It was to be race long battle with Italian Danilo Dell'Omo and Spaniard Santiago Barragan for Gowla with him gaining the advantage to pass the chequered flag in 19th.

Graeme Gowland:

“This weekend has been really tough as this was my first ride with the new team and on the new bike and you don’t have enough time in the sessions to make any big changes so I never really got it set up how I like it. Obviously the race result isn’t where I want to be but I gave it my all and hopefully we can get the bike more to my liking for the next race and I will be in the points.”
