Truck Links Yamaha rider, Joe Dickinson faced a weekend of mixed fortunes at round 5 of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship at Snetterton, Norfolk today (15th June).
Joe made a blistering start from his season best qualifying position of 10th on the grid. By lap two the youngster from Clowne in Derbyshire had elevated himself up to 7th position but a five bike melee into the chicane saw Joe get pushed wide and come out of the pack in 11th place.
With his work cut out to make time back, Joe found himself embroiled in another multiple bike battle that involved fellow Yamaha rider BJ Toal. As Toal past him Joe was losing out to his rivals as the pack continued to trip each other up in their quest for position.
At the back of the battle Midge Smart crashed out at the chicane on lap 13. The red flag was displayed to allow the medics to give Midge the attention he required and the race was declared a result, leaving Joe to pick up the last point in 15th place.
Round 6 of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship takes place at Mallory Park on June 27-29.
Joe Dickinson: "I got a really good start and was battling with the guys ahead right from the off. By lap 2 I was up to 7th but we were in a big group all wanting the same bit of tarmac. I got hit by another rider coming out of the chicane and I was forced wide, it put me back to 11th. I was then in the same kind of scenario where we were all swapping places when the race got stopped and I ended up back in 15th, which was not ideal."
Rob McElnea, Team Principal: "We started to see some of Joe's true potential at the start of that race but he took the bad luck of the draw with one thing and another pushing him back down the order. He was stuck in a rut when the red flag came out and it was game over."
