The second day of qualifying for the 250 class saw the JiR Team Scot rider do a good job of development on his Honda RS250RW but was unable to finish in a good position on the grid because he encountered traffic during his hot qualifying lap towards the end of the session. Despite the fact that he starts from the third row, Yuki Takahashi believes he have a good race and be up at the front and battle hard in the early the laps up to the leading group of riders. The Japanese rider enjoys the Mugello circuit and he is motivated also by the passion of the many fans that are camped out on the Tuscan hills.

Gianni Berti – Technical Coordinator, JiR Team Scot

“Today the team and Yuki did some very hard work, doing the job with a good method and it’s a shame that the result they expected wasn’t possible as Yuki got caught in a group of riders at the same moment when he was about to begin his fast laps. I’m sure for tomorrow we are ready and we expect that we could another good run at a podium position.”

“I am happy today as I’m still ready for this race. I am fully motivated to get a good result for the team and myself. Despite starting from the third row of the grid, the bike has developed well this weekend and I have to make a good start so I don’t lose contact with the leading group of riders. The first part of practice I didn’t look for the fast lap but for the best setting of the chassis and after that we chose the tyres for the race and I feel good with my final choice of tyres. At the end of practice I came out for the fast final laps but I waited for some fast riders to follow their line and use their slipstream to get a fast lap, but I found myself in a group and it was difficult to go fast, instead we fought but didn’t make a fast lap and so I didn’t make such a good lap time. I’m sad as I was in the condition to make a good grid position but if I analyse the lap ti me I hope tomorrow we can make a beautiful race!”

Yutaka Hirano – Chief Technician, JiR Team Scot

“We are very satisfied with the work done today because we have identified a technical balance on the bike that makes us motivated for the race tomorrow. The setting of the chassis is at its optimum and also the configuration of the gearbox that yesterday we didn’t conclude thanks to the rain. The whole package will put Yuki in the best position to use the full potential of the Honda. The performance of the engine is good and I think tomorrow we can put in a good race and do well. The team did a good job in these two days.”
