Ducati legend Carl Fogarty will join Ducati’s 50th anniversary TT celebrations and ride a Desmosedici RR in the Ducati parade lap at this year’s Isle of Man TT.

Isle of Man and Ducati hero Carl Fogarty has been lined up to ride one of the most exclusive and incredible motorcycles of modern times, the Ducati Desmosedici RR. The RR is a road-going replica of the Ducati Corse Grand Prix racing Desmosedici GP6 and has been kindly loaned by Winchester Ducati dealer – Moto Rapido.

The 200hp Desmosedici owned by Steve Moore of Moto Rapido is only one of a handful currently in the country, however despite its exclusivity (one of only 175 expected in the UK) and its price tag (£40,000)’Wilf’ as he is also known, regularly commutes to work on this MotoGP replica.

However on the 6th June, the Desmosedici RR will find itself transported from a Winchester motorcycle dealer, more used to a commute along the M3 to an ex- World Champion and TT hero who will be riding the’ RR’ around the famous 37 ¾ mile mountain course in front of thousands of fans.

Carl Fogarty and the Desmosedici will be in good company as he will be joined by such luminaries as - Sammy Miller, who rode one of the first Ducati motorcycles to race at the TT in 1958, Paul Smart, Alan Cathcart, Tony Rutter, Trevor Nation, Jamie Whitham, Ian Simpson and son of ‘Mike the Bike’® - Dave Hailwood.

The parade lap will start from the famous start /finish line in front of the grandstand on Glencrutchery Rd at 10.45am on Friday 6 June prior to the start of the prestigious Senior TT race.

Very cool. I like the part about the owner 'commuting' on it. Not sure I'd risk riding it around London during rush-hour every day mind.

forgotten pwd?
