Planet-Knox, the British protection specialists, have announced a major new safety initiative. With immediate effect they will be supplying a free ‘dog tag’ with every new back protector.
‘Dog tag’ is military slang for the identification tags worn by servicemen that provide essential basic medical information. Knox have based their tag on the classic US Army version but have modified it to suit the needs of motorcyclists.
Space is provided to add the wearer’s name, date of birth and blood group – information that is frequently carried by racers and that will help medical staff to identify and provide emergency treatment to any rider injured in an accident.
These high quality tags are produced from stainless steel and can be engraved by most high street engraving stores (e.g. Timpsons). Knox have thoughtfully included a cut out section that can be used as a bottle opener – very important for instant refreshment after a day in the saddle.
“Nobody wants to think about crashing on their bike,” comments Knox MD Geoff Travell. “Wearing a back-protector improves your chances of walking away from an accident and having crucial information available for medical staff further improves your chances of survival.”
Knox dog tags are free with every new Knox back protector or can be purchased separately for £4.99.
