The track of Villars sous Ecot hosted a round of the French Elite and Women’s Championship this weekend and Grand Prix Kawasaki Racing riders Sébastien Pourcel and Livia Lancelot dominated Double win for GPKR with Sébastien and Livia.
Home of several Grand Prix in the 1980’s the track of Villars sous Ecot hosted a round of the French Elite and Women’s Championship this weekend. On a brand new layout the Grand Prix Kawasaki Racing riders took more success as Sébastien Pourcel and Livia Lancelot dominate their respective classes.
Three weeks after his win in Gaillac Toulza, Sébastien claimed another triple win in Villars sous Ecot and took the lead of the series. Fastest in qualification and then taking three good starts, Sébastien never waited more than a few seconds to lead the races, even in the last heat when Nicolas Aubin tried to battle with him. With no real rivals he posted fast laps and focused on his lines in order to prepare the following GP’s. For the first time this season - as he missed the opening round in Sommières - Sébastien is now leading the series with two more rounds to go. Fourth in his qualifying group, Alexandre Rouis finished the three races in the top seven (7/6/7) despite a big crash in the second moto.
Livia Lancelot was racing in the second round of the French Cup and once more she won both races easily. Five seconds faster than her rivals in the qualifying session (her lap time would have qualified Livia for the MX2 race) Livia was one of the three women able to do one full lap on Sunday morning on a muddy track. She got two holeshots and then won the races easily one week prior to the next round of the series in Epinal.
Sébastien Pourcel: “The track was rough and sometimes dangerous, it was important to avoid making any mistakes. I took three good starts - I was always second in the first corner and then took the lead during the opening lap. Physically I was perfect even during the first moto where I pushed for thirty minutes. This is the second Elite event in a row where I have won the three races, I feel more and more confident even if I do make some mistakes in the GPs. In Italy I was too aggressive on the bike during the second moto - it was rainy and for sure it would have been better to ride smoothly.”
Alexandre Rouis: “In the first heat I got a good start but I made some mistakes and lost a few places. Then after the second start I made a mistake before a jump and collided with Leonce on the jump. I crashed pretty hard and lost time but came back to seventh. Then in the last heat my start was not so good, the track was rough and dangerous and I just rode safe.”
Livia Lancelot: “This race was a good training session for me as when you race on the same track as the MX1 and MX2 classes there are more lines to choose from. The level of the French women series is not really high so during the races I was focused on my lap times. I also did my best to promptly pass the lappers as it’s one point where I must improve in the GPs. I’m happy with my wins but I’m also satisfied with my qualifying result, as my lap time was fast enough to qualify for the MX2 race alongside the men. That’s one of my next goals.”
Roger Pourcel: “It’s another great weekend for us with two overall wins. Livia was consistent in both races and that’s good for her before the next GPs. Sébastien won the three races, got great start and posted regularly fast laps during the races. Alex had a good qualifying session on Saturday and then in the race he shows that he is improving even if he crashed during the second race.”
