We are delighted to unveil our new livery for the next round of the British Superbike series. Again, we have been working very hard to attract new sponsors to the sport, and with the help of Les Waterfall of Beechdale Motor Group in Derby, we have put together a fantastic deal bringing SsangYong Motor into the sport for the first time, as a Team sponsor.

SsangYong has been manufacturing vehicles for longer than most people think, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2004. SsangYong had sales of 136,581 in 2007

The ‘SsangYong Racing It Works for Me’ logos will be proudly displayed on our race Yamaha’s in the Eurosport, televised Superstock class, where twice British Supermoto Champion, and surprise 2008 rookie road race winner Sam Warren will pilot our R1’s

Nigel Unwin, SsangYong’s Marketing Director commented “SsangYong is delighted to be the main sponsor of the team and we are looking forward to an exciting season.  With a complete new product range this sponsorship gives us the opportunity to re-launch the brand into the UK in a highly impactful way!”

Andrew Smith, the Managing Director of Yamaha Motor UK, made the following comment… “This is fantastic news not just for the Team but motorcycle racing in general. As Yamaha, we are proud to be working alongside a company such as SsangYong Motors.

Ex British Superbike star ‘Mission Racing’s’ Dean Thomas, who has a long association with GR and now working with the Team as Sam’s Manager and technical guru said. “I’m pleased that GR Motosport has given Sam the chance to compete in the British Superstock Championship in the SsangYong Racing Team. I first raced here in the UK with Brent and Tony, and know what a great job they do! This will help Sam gain extra experience and I strongly believe that we will be podium contenders in the Superstock class as well as keeping his winning form alive in the Yamaha R1 Cup.

Sam Warren couldn’t contain his excitement beaming… “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to show what I’m capable of. I know that I have been road racing for less that a year but I have proved already in the Yamaha R1 Cup with Mission Racing that I am capable of winning and I hope that I can do the same for the SsangYong Racing Team in the Superstock Championship.

“This is quite a nice situation for our Team, we have always worked hard on helping up and coming riders and bringing new
sponsors to our sport. It gives me great pleasure in welcoming both SsangYong Motors and Sam and look forward to great races and results,” smiled GR’s Tony Robinson.
