Bruce Wilson from Gipsey Bridge near Boston failed to complete his second race in a row when he crashed out of 22nd place in round three of the Metzeler Superstock 600cc championship at Brands Hatch on Sunday.
Qualifying had already been set back in April with Wilson securing a seventh row start on an unfamiliar track.
“I had never ridden at Brands Hatch on the full GP circuit,” said Bruce. “So I had to learn my way around and that reflected in my low grid position.”
Wilson had a half hour free practice on Saturday and a 10-minute warm-up on Sunday morning to reacquaint himself with the circuit layout before forming the grid for the start of the 14-lap race.
He got away to a good start and moved through to take up 22nd position before the safety car was deployed on lap two. When the car was withdrawn two laps later Bruce began to edge closer to the group of riders just ahead but slid off into the gravel at Hawthorne on lap five, his race over.
Bruce will see race action again on May 26 when the British Superbike championship and support races visit the Leicestershire circuit of Donington Park.
