Former British Superbike and Grand Prix star Sean Emmett is making a spectacular return to racing in the UK this year, scoring a hard-fought second place in the Henderson R1 Cup at Oulton Park this weekend.

Emmett, who is riding for the Hill Oldridge team, now leads the series by four points from John Kirkham and is getting ready for an all-out assault at Donington Park in three weeks’ time, where 40 points will be up for grabs in two races.

Emmett said:

“It was a really good weekend but the weather made it hard on tyres. It was wet and dry so we had to make a tyre preservation choice. I was running at the front in the wet race and Sam Warren came past me.

“He is an experienced supermoto rider and I could see him backing it into turns in the rain. He was on a mission, that’s for sure, but he won’t be able to do that in the dry!

“I’m really happy to come away with the championship lead and heading for Donington Park in a couple of weeks. I’ve raced there on so many different kinds of bikes and I know the track really well, so we should be looking at a good set of results and I am out for the wins. But I am not counting my chickens yet.”

Emmett’s Oulton Park podium backs up his second place at Thruxton two weekends ago.

Emmett is still in desperate need of sponsorship to finish this season and to make a start with his plans for 2009. If you can help, please contact David@onthegrid.co.uk in the first instance.

Sean would like to thank his sponsors: Hill Oldridge, Gorgeous Enterprises, 3D Audiovisual and Mediatech.
