Peugeot has launched two new versions of its best-selling Speedfight scooter for the 2008 season. More than 400,000 have been produced since its launch in 1996 and the Speedfight, which still tops the UK sales charts, is credited with creating the modern sports scooter.
With its single arm front fork and asymmetrical twin lens headlights the Speedfight is instantly recognisable and this year’s new colour schemes enhance that appearance. The Ultimate is in metallic blue and silver, with tri-spoke alloy wheels and white shock absorbers. Meanwhile the R-Cup, the latest in a series of limited edition models that pay homage to the success of Peugeot in World Rally, is transformed from traditional red to new white and black bodywork, with white tri-spoke wheels and sponsor logos.
Both models feature ‘snake bite’ exhaust, two-tone sport saddle, aluminium footplates and rear spoiler. The liquid cooled 50cc 2-stroke engine is smooth, responsive and economical while 180mm disc brakes front and rear deliver superb stopping power.
