Bruce Wilson from Gipsey Bridge near Boston will be greeted with a familiar circuit for the first time this season when he travels to Oulton Park for the second round of the National R6 Cup at the weekend.

On his two previous outings in the series - Brands Hatch where he qualified for the race, that is now to be run on May 11 in 29th position and Thruxton where he finished in 25th place – Wilson was unfamiliar with the circuit layout, as he had never ridden at either circuit. But having competed at Oulton Park on many occasions he is relieved he doesn’t have to waste valuable testing time learning the circuit.

“I have been to Oulton Park a number of times in the past so it will be nice to get back on a track I know after two outings on unfamiliar tarmac. I am really looking forward to Oulton and have my sights aimed upwards,” explained Wilson.

The R6 Cup is proving to be highly competitive and Bruce is under no illusion that he will have his work cut out to get up into the points and he said:

“Its been a huge learning curve for me to move up to this level of competition and to finish where I did at Thruxton from 54 starters does at least put me in the top half of the field so that’s something I can hopefully build on this weekend.”

Free practise is on Saturday followed by qualifying on Sunday with final qualifying on Monday morning prior to the 14-lap race scheduled a for 5.15pm start.
