Trucklinks Yamaha Supersport rider, Joe Dickinson walks away from the opening Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship round at Thruxton still in search of his first points of the season (20th April).
The 24 year old from Clowne in North Derbyshire had shown his true potential in the closing minutes of the first qualifying session, posting his Yamaha YZF-R6 in fifth position. A drying track in Qualifying Two saw the lap times tumbling, Joe put in a fast early lap time to keep his Yamaha YZF-R6 in the top five before crashing out and having to watch the rest of the session from the pit garage.
A dry race day saw new track conditions for the Supersport competitors. Joe worked his way from 19th on the grid up to 15th position before the safety car was deployed on lap 7. After three circulations the riders recommenced racing on lap 10, Joe struggled to maintain his position, finally taking the chequered flag in 17th position.
Joe will now look to kickstart his season as Round 3 of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Champoinship reaches Oulton Park over the Bank Holiday weekend (3rd-5th May).
Rob McElnea: "To be honest the results that we have seen this weekend from our Supersport riders are not the results we expect to see. With one thing and another it hasn't happened for us this weekend. Its disappointing but we will move on to the next round to turn it around and start putting in the qualifying and race results that we want to achieve."
Joe Dickinson: "It's been a disastrous weekend for me since qualifying, crashing at the beginning of that session left me with a whole load of work to do off the grid. I made up a few places but to be so far back in a class this competitive it's virtually impossible to make back the time. I'll look ahead to Oulton now."
