The Lakeside Hammers will now be using Jonas Davidsson alongside Adam Shields in Saturday’s Elite League Best Pairs meeting at King’s Lynn as Jonsson is struggling with a hand injury. Davidsson has been selected ahead of Joonas Kylmakorpi based on their current form.
The Hammers Team Manager, Jon Cook, states: “It is obviously a disappointment to us all that Andreas won’t be riding for us in the Pairs at King’s Lynn on Saturday but Jonas was delighted to get the call up. He has quickly re-organised his travelling arrangements to ensure that he can race for us at the Norfolk Arena. I believe he can do a good job for us along with Adam and he comes in ahead of Joonas Kylmakorpi, who is still attempting to recover his form following his long spell on the injury list last season.”
Australian Davey Watt will replace Jonsson for the Craven Shield match at Peterborough on Thursday and is also standing by to ride for the Hammers in their home Sky Sports Elite League match at the Arena Essex Raceway on Friday against the Swindon Robins if Jonsson fails in his attempt to ride with a hand support.
News from Leigh Lanham, who was the second rider injured in the crash up at Belle Vue on Monday evening, is looking more promising. After a good night’s sleep Lanham is feeling a little better this afternoon and will be making a decision tomorrow (Wednesday) as to whether he will be fit enough to take his place in the Hammers side at Peterborough. If he is unable to race his rides will need to be covered by utilising the ‘Rider Replacement’ facility. The Club is, however, a lot more hopeful that he will be able to ride in Friday’s home fixture against the Robins.
A further Press Release will be issued as soon as more news is received on these two injured Hammers riders.
