Enthusiasts will be able to try the new BMW R1200 GS Adventure and K1200 GT motorcycles for size this weekend as BMW Motorrad UK heads to the famous Cheltenham Racecourse for this year's National BikeSafe event. The annual event is a prime opportunity for riders to test the latest models from the 2006 BMW Motorrad model line-up and embark on an informative and fun BikeSafe assessed riding experience, for free.
BikeSafe is an initiative run by police forces around the United Kingdom who work with the whole of the biking world to help to lower the number of motorcycle rider casualties. By passing on their knowledge, skills and experience, police motorcyclists aim to promote safer, more competent riding to help increase riders' ability and confidence, so they can get even more enjoyment from their bikes.
Led by some of the UK's top motorcycle police riders, participants will be able to choose from a variety of BMW motorcycles throughout the weekend event. Joining the new R1200 GS Adventure and K1200 GT machines, BMW's MCN award-winning new generation models - the 167 hp K1200 S superbike and R1200 RT touring sensation - will also be available for test rides. Additionally, the single-cylinder F650 GS and BMW's aggressively styled naked street bike - the 163 hp K1200 R, will complete the test fleet line-up.
For advice on motorcycle clothing and accessories, a visit to the BMW stand will feature stylish items from the 2006 BMW Motorrad Rider Equipment collection, including the Streetguard 2 and new Rallye 2 Pro textile suits. For visitors who prefer to keep their feet firmly on the ground there are many attractions and fun-filled activities to become involved in, from family entertainment and vintage clubs to an array of prize draws, competitions and refreshments.
See BMW Motorrad UK at the National BikeSafe weekend from 10am-5pm this Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 April at Cheltenham Race Course.
All test rides are subject to riders producing a full UK driving licence (both parts if new style). For further information, enthusiasts should visit the bikesafe link below.
