The Superbike World Championship circus comes to the UK next weekend and if the hot weather holds it looks set to be a scorcher. The European round of this prestigious world championship will take place at Brands Hatch circuit in Kent from 4 to 6 August, and BMW Motorrad will be there to present and promote its exciting new range of sports models.
The impressive line-up on the BMW Motorrad stand will include the MCN Award-winning K1200 S superbike, the 163 hp K1200 R naked roadster, plus the new-generation F800 S sports middleweight twin and R1200 S road sports boxer.
This exciting range of models represents BMW’s new direction and sportier focus, ensuring that there is now a BMW bike to suit every type of rider.
Visitors to the World Superbike round will be able to see all four sports models on display, with BMW Motorrad experts on hand to talk through the many benefits of these great bikes. Visitors will also have the chance to see a 175 hp BMW K1200 R Power Cup bike on which MotoGP star Jeremy McWilliams recently thrilled the crowds who watched him power-slide all the way up the famous hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. With its lashings of carbon fibre and a special Laser end can, the race-prepared K1200 R machine looks, sounds and performs like no other BMW.
Also at Brands Hatch will be a display of enduro and trail motorcycles including the new R1200 GS Adventure, a 105 hp HP2 Enduro and the F650 GS Dakar race bike – as ridden by the BMW Race to Dakar team in the 2006 Euromilhões Lisbon to Dakar Rally.
Riders who visit the Brands Hatch World Superbike round will also have a final chance to enter BMW Motorrad’s summer competition to win a track day with former Grand Prix and Superbike rider Niall Mackenzie. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the three-times British Superbike Champion for a full day of track tuition at Donington Park circuit in Leicestershire. There are four places available and the lucky winners will each have the opportunity to ride a motorcycle from the current BMW range on the legendary Grand Prix circuit. At Brands Hatch, riders can also find out how to participate in BMW Motorrad’s ‘Let the all-day test ride decide’ promotion, which is currently running at all BMW dealerships until 31 August and features the K1200 S, R1200 GS and R1200 RT models. All participants who take an extended test ride of one of the above models can enter a prize draw to win a complete set of BMW Rider Equipment, worth over £1,300.
