Andy Ibbott rides with Rossi - DVD Shoot at Ascari Race CircuitThe schools own Andy Ibbott got to ride with Valentino Rossi at Ascari Race circuit back in December. The shoot was arranged by Yamaha and filming took place for a DVD on Rossi's 10 track riding tips. The promotional DVD is to celebrate 10 years of the R series and will culminate in a Europe wide dealer promotion this Spring (UK 15th March)
Ibbott said "Riding with Rossi was a unique experience, being with him on-track felt very surreal. Rossi rode the new R6 which he rated very highly, I rode an R1. Watching him close up at speed was amazing, he was incredibly smooth"
"The new R6 is an excellent refinement, particularly in the handling and is much more stable than previous models"

Valencia 125gp & 250gp testing - Caffe Latte Aprilia GP Racing - Valencia
Thomas Luthi
Thomas started the three days of testing well at one of the circuits that he has the most problems with. Any of you who have ridden Valencia will know how important it is to find a good rhythm to get fast lap times. This has always been an issue for Thomas.
So, back to basics to get him consistent and then the flow will come. We spent the first day just analysing the first two turns, looking at braking points, turn in points and apexes to make sure he had them nailed. On the second day we moved on to the next three turns.
Unfortunately Thomas crashed in the third sector and has broken his right collarbone in the fall. He has flown back to Switzerland to get it treated and should be back in shape for the Jerez IRTA test in the middle of February.
Sandro CorteseSandro has a new factory Aprilia and a new crew this year. He says that the new bike is very fast and we are looking for good things from the 18 year old German/Italian rider.
At Valencia a lot of the work was focused on getting the bike turned quicker still so he could run later turn points and get to use the power of the new engine sooner in the corner. He was putting in very consistent lap times today (Wednesday) and was 6th quickest overall. Tomorrow we will be working on Vanishing points to allow him to get more space, particularly in the penultimate corner.
OverallA lot of the front field of the 125 class has moved up into 250 and it looks that the 250 class will be the hardest fought of them all this season. Quality riders like Faubel, Pasini, and Pesek will add to the mix and the ‘veterans’ Luthi, Kallio, Barbera, Debon, Bautista, Simon, Aoyama, will all be having a go for the front. CSS student Karel Abraham has also stepped up to be one of the quickest privateers having completed some more schools during the winter.
In the 125 class Bradley Smith was impressive, also watch out for a young British rider, Scott Redding. I saw him this time last year and was impressed then. Now he is a real talent and going well.
