Back from attracting a record number of visitors at the MCN London Motorcycle Show last month, the BMW Motorrad stand will once again become a flurry of activity when all five new 2006 models get their Irish premiere. BMW Motorrad will be supporting Ireland’s biggest biking show next month when more than 22,000 motorcycle enthusiasts are expected to descend upon Dublin’s RDS venue for the 2006 Irish Motorbike and Scooter Show.

This will be the first will be chance for Ireland’s BMW aficionados to see the eagerly awaited R1200 GS Adventure in the metal. Following on from the success of the iconic R1150 GS Adventure, BMW’s new and improved 1200cc version is sure to continue its status as the definitive bike for serious globetrotting thanks to enhanced weather protection, a 15 per cent power increase and 17 per cent more torque.

Although sharing the same model designation as the existing BMW K1200 GT, its replacement for 2006 is bristling with much more advanced technology and innovative features than the last, many of which were first seen on the BMW's K1200 S superbike. Regardless, the Gran Turismo derivative shares the same four-cylinder engine that is torque-rich, and also offers touring riders the best possible long-distance riding comfort levels and class-leading safety features.

Stand visitors will also be able to see the new F800 S and ST sports middleweights that captured so much interest at the other European motorcycle shows, as well as see the breathtakingly beautiful new R1200 S, the most powerful production Boxer ever produced by BMW. All three of these models will be for sale later this spring. As well as all the BMW bikes, Rider Equipment and accessories available on the show stand, visitors heading to the exclusive outdoor arena will be able to witness just what BMW’s 105 hp HP2 Enduro is capable of in the right hands, as Irish Motorcycle Stunt Specialist, Mattie Griffin will be putting on a riding display that shouldn’t be missed. Furthermore, the exclusive BMW Motorrad Academy can also be found at the outdoor arena, enabling motorcyclists with little or no previous experience to ride a BMW for the first time.

Now in its fourth year, the Irish Motorbike and Scooter Show guarantees an enjoyable experience for all two-wheeled fanatics. In addition to the endless motorcycles on display, fun-filled activities are plentiful and include a mini-moto and sidecar racetrack, a 3D motorbike-racing simulator, bungee jumping, and countless trade stands and celebrity interviews. To go and see BMW Motorrad at this year’s Irish Motorbike and Scooter Show is being held at the RDS venue in Dublin from Friday 3 until Sunday 5 March.
