A man died when he was struck by a police motorbike.
The pedestrian, aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash on Wednesday night in Southend Road, Ilford, east London.
A police spokesman said it is believed the marked police motorcycle was not responding to an emergency call when the accident happened.
An investigation has been launched by the Metropolitan Police (Met) collision investigation unit.
It will be overseen by the force's Directorate of Professional Standards. The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed.
The victim has not been named. A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out later.
A Met spokesman said it could not comment further until the investigation into the death is completed.
