Yamaha Motor UK are pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Belton to the position of Marketing and PR Manager for all the company’s powered two wheelers. He has been working within the motorcycle industry since the late ‘70s and has worked in the marketing arena specifically since 1983. Achieving a Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in 1998 to underpin his already extensive marketing experience, Simon worked in recent years within a European HQ for a major manufacturer planning and implementing a pan-European accessory programme. Completing that project, he then went on to focus on accessory marketing and road race activity support in the UK. Yamaha’s Motorcycle Divisional Manager, Geoff Selvidge commented ‘Simon’s vast knowledge, experience and enormous enthusiasm will be a great asset to our motorcycle team.’
‘It’s a great opportunity for me to help further develop the brand, our relations with the press and our dealers, plus help implement Yamaha’s mission within the motorcycle market.’ Belton added ‘Yamaha have a great range of products from mopeds, scooters through to the class leading R1 of which I am looking forward to riding each and one of them over the next few months. One of my main priorities will be to link all our marketing and PR activities more closely with our commercial objectives.’
Simon spends his leisure time with his family (Wife, 3 kids, 2 cats) and tries to get out once a month competing in local enduro events. Sporting events feature quite highly in his motorcycling career, competing in Hillclimbs in the early eighties (runner up in the 250cc National Championships in 1983) and road racing in the late eighties. Simon also enjoys riding his motorcycle abroad and tries to ensure at least 4 days a year riding the continent with his wife, Adrienne.
