Taboo Motorsport's Michael Hill has started the lengthy recovery process following a horrific smash at Snetterton where he sustained two broken vertebrae. Hill had started the British 125GP from 23rd on the grid after a difficult time in qualifying but his usual aggressive start to the race had seen him progresse to thirteenth place. Howevere, it all went astray on the last corner of the last lap when a fallen rider was assisted back onto the track on the racing line in front of Hill. There was little that he could do to avoid the crash and ended up rear ending the other rider who was hardly moving.

"I have to say a big thank you to Toby Branfoot's medical team who did a great job of looking after me at the track, and also to all of the people who have sent get well wishes by text, phone or email" said Hill whilst recovering in Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital.

He has been fitted with a body brace and is out of action for approximately ten weeks.

"My first goal is to get fit and strong enough to host the Riders for Health main stage at the Donington Park Grand Prix. It will be hard work being on my feet for three days but that is my aim. After that I am hoping that my existing sponsors will rally round to allow me to get back on track for the remaining 2 or 3 rounds of this year's championship" he said.

He is still leading the North East 125cc GP Championship after a double victory in the opening round and has had a tenth place finish at Thruxton which he followed up with a hard fought 13th at Silverstone in the British Championship.

"I think that since working with Pete Banks and Alan Green, I have proved that I am a consistent points finisher and I am confident that with both the machine running so well and my new found confidence that I could have added to the top ten results that I have achieved but it looks like that may not happen this season. I am now discussing with Pete Banks who builds the bike what we need to repair it and also planning for an even bigger and better 2008. I will probably use the last couple of rounds this year as a test so hopefully we can get some newer kit parts for the bike for my comeback."

If anyone would like to assist Michael either financially or with any parts that will allow him to get back on track in 2007 please contact him by emailing michael@michaelhillracing.com or by telephoning 07837 937341.

In addition, Michael is also happy to talk to potential backers for the 2008 season during which he hopes to not only challenge for the British 125cc Championship but also continue with his promotions and presenting work.
