German Dominic Lammert won the opening round of the Suzuki GSX-R European Cup at Valencia today. Conditions were tricky, to say the least, but Lammert kept a cool head and managed to take the chequered flag by over eight tenths ahead of his nearest rival Daniel Pinera. Third went to Patric Muff, with Kenny Noyes fourth, Gabor Rizmayer fifth and Ismail Ortega sixth.
Dominic Lammert - 1stIt was difficult out there today because of the conditions and the start was hard for me because I made a bad start and was only fifth!
But lap by lap, I began to push hard and after four laps I was first.
I felt comfortable in the lead and although I had some slides (quite normal I think in these damp conditions) everything worked out OK.
I’m very happy to win the first race and I’m sorry that the race was red-flagged and stopped before the scheduled distance because I was enjoying myself a lot. I’m glad I didn’t have any problems with the oil spillage and happy to miss that and take the win.
