In the last race of the FIM Superstock 1000 Championship, Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Xavier Siméon confirmed his potential by taking a superb fourth at a soaking wet and treacherous Silverstone. This excellent result marked a further step forward in the already fast learning curve of the Belgian rider.
This weekend, "Xav" strongly intends to keep the momentum going, but it looks as if things may be a little more difficult than usual. The Misano racetrack has been extensively altered and will require an important adaptation period for him and some of the other riders, who have not had the opportunity to test the new layout.
Recently, Xavier and his crew attended an intensive two-day test session at Germany’s Lausitzring and were able to progress the development of their GSX-R 1000 K7. These tests were of a paramount importance ahead of the Misano round, where good knowledge of the bike will be decisive in finding the right set-up.
XAVIER SIMEON:"Last weekend’s private tests at Lausitz were extremely useful because we made important progress in terms of the bike’s settings. We were really fast there and I hope to be just as fast in Misano. Things will be a lot different this year because the track has changed and we will be riding clockwise instead of anticlockwise. I used to like Misano, but I will have to discover it all over again this weekend. My first objective is to learn the track as quickly as possible. After my good result in Silverstone, I know I can run with the top riders and possibly finish on the podium. I have trained a lot between Silverstone and Misano and I feel I am at the top of my mental and physical health, so it should be a good weekend for me and my team."
