Both Tommy Hill and Billy McConnell made fantastic starts to their Brands Hatch campaign this weekend (29 September - 1 October). Lead rider for Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha, 21 year old Tommy Hill was fourth fastest behing Kiyonari, Harris and Byrne in the first practice session with Team mate Billy McConnell less than a second behind him.

In the afternoon session, the roles were reversed with Billy a shave faster than Hill.

Tommy Hill:

"It's my home track so I want to go well here. The team have worked so hard this season on developing the bike and along with Pirelli on the tyres, I want to get a podium here this weekend. The practice sessions have gone well and as long as I start on the front row I will be happy. I just want my home crowd to cheer me on."

Billy McConnell:

"Yeah pleased with that. I was going well this morning and Tom and I were so close to each other's times this afternoon which is a great benchmark for me to work on. It would be great to finish the season on a high and get a good result here this weekend."

Team Manager Rob McElnea:

"With the weather not making its mind up about what to do, the lads have performed well today and we are looking stong for qualifying tomorrow."
