Fabien Foret (GIL Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) was chasing a podium position in the Misano Supersport race when a collision with another rider, whom Foret had just passed into the first chicane, caused the French rider to fall on lap three, and lose his chance of finishing.
Pere Riba (GIL Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) had his machine had discovered his true pace at Misano after some recent set-up issues, but he too suffered ultimate misfortune in a race setting, when his machine stopped on lap eight.
Foret, who had started from the front row, was particularly unlucky as one more lap and he would have been allowed to restart, after the race was stopped when a machine blew oil onto the circuit. After a long delay the race restarted, with Riba tenth but Foret prevented by the race regulations.
Despite his no-score, Fabien is second in the title chase, with 100 points to leader Sofuoglu’s 161. Riba is 14th, on 30 points.
Fabien Foret:“I am very angry about the manoeuvre by the other rider. He was at the limit of his machine, so I went past him. I knew it would be hard to pass in that chicane but I was already in front of him when he gassed the engine and moved over. Our preparation was good and I felt good in myself, but today was just an unlucky day for our team.”
Pere Riba:“We had a technical problem with the bike in the restarted part of the race. I have been really, really unlucky this year, it is amazing. I was running with confidence in the second group and I am sure I could have made a good finish. I did a strong run in qualifying and the speed I could do today would have put me fourth or fifth at the end. I should be happy that my speed is back, if not my good luck.”
