Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) did not get into a pre-race position to challenge for podiums on raceday but he did leave with some solid points scores after taking a pair of eighth places. Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) just missed out on a point in race one, even though he stopped to change his front tyre, but he recovered well in race two to take tenth, despite not finding the set-up he wanted at one of his favourite circuits.

Nieto was close to the front-runners for some periods on raceday but a couple of spells of bad luck stopped him from capitalising on his good early placings. Laconi turned around his fortunes in race two, winning a battle with Yukio Kagayama to earn his top ten status.

Fonsi Nieto:

“Unfortunately we had to put a soft front tyre on the bike to be able to corner properly but this eventually held us back. In race two I didn’t make a good start but I was close to achieving a result that would have increased the team’s morale - but an insect got into my crash helmet and by the time it went away I had already lost three positions. I tried to recover them but it was impossible. Anyway two eighth places aren’t so bad.”

Regis Laconi:

“Race one? I wasn’t there! I chose a soft front tyre and after few laps I was almost crashing in every corner. I returned to the box and I tried a harder front, to test it for race two. I was angry but not demoralized and I tried to improve as much as I could. Considering the problems we had all weekend, we got some good points in race two.”
