The final round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship took place at Brands Hatch last weekend, watched by a record, rain-soaked crowd who witnessed Ryuichi Kiyonari claim the crown during the last race of the season.
The two rain-affected races provided dramatic viewing not only for spectators at the track, but also for the big television audience on ITV1. Figures just released confirm in excess of 1.5 million viewers watched the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on ITV1 – a record for this Championship series, and second only to F1’s coverage during a busy motorsport weekend which also included A1 Grand Prix.
