A wet and windy start failed to deter the large number of riders who enjoyed round 1 of the MRO organised British Supermotard Championship at Cadwell Park a couple of weeks ago and the Moto GB series now moves to Lydden Hill in Kent for the summer ‘Double Header’ meeting, which hosts Rounds 2 & 3 of the championship.

Big winner in SM1 at round 1; Christian Iddon (Aprilia) will be absent as he is away on World Championship duties in Austria which leaves race wins and the championship itself wide open.

Cadwell Park Superfinal winner Sam Warren (Aprilia) will head the pack in SM1 ahead of Ady Smith (KTM UK), Andy Mitchell (Husaberg UK), Keith Farmer (Wulfsport SMR Husaberg), Greg Kinsella (SD Husaberg) and Mickael Zammit (MWR 525) whilst in SM2, double SM2 race winner Chris Hodgson (Robinsons KTM) will be fending off the close attentions of James Addy (Appleyard KTM), Mickael Zammit (MWR 450) and KTM Euro Cup winner David Jackson (Alice Racing Aprilia) amongst others.

Colin Spink and Kevin Ridley are also set to defend their respective SM3 and Challenge class series leads against the hordes of riders snapping at their heels.

If you can’t make it to Lydden Hill this weekend, highlights from each round of the Moto GB British Supermotard Championship are shown on Motors TV; the acknowledged European leader in Motorsports coverage. Broadcast schedules are published on the Moto GB website with Saturday’s racing (Round 2) provisionally scheduled for a first airing at 7.30pm on Friday 7th July. The series is underpinned by the highly successful NORA Sport and Southern Supermoto Championships with riders (and spectators alike) now having a huge choice of dates and venues for Supermoto racing during 2006.

Rounds 2 & 3 of the Moto GB British Supermotard Championship feature practice & qualifying from 9.00am – 11.30am on Saturday with the now traditional Supermoto ‘bar to ‘bar race action from 11.45am on Saturday and 12.30pm on Sunday.

Lydden Hill is located off the A2 between Canterbury and Dover. The circuit has seen evolutionary changes to the original layout designed for the sell-out 2003 British Superprix - European Supermoto Championship event and is very popular with riders and spectators alike. Entrance tickets cost £9 at the gate.
