This year, at the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show, Bonhams' sale will be spread over two days. On Saturday 21 October - in an addition to the original sale date - the Lawrence Rose Collection will be offered, featuring over 100 machines from British Bikes Ltd, one of the UK's largest and most prominent classic motorcycle dealers. Rose is retiring from the business, and has asked Bonhams to conduct a dispersal sale of his stock - everything is being offered with no reserve. The collection consists mainly of British machines from the 1950s and '60s, with estimates ranging from £50 to £4,000. Highlights include a 1967 Triumph Bonneville (estimate £3,000 - 4,000) and a 1939 Velocette MSS (estimate £3,000 - 3,500).
Over 100 machines will be offered in the traditional Sunday sale, on 22 October. In addition to the Honda and Munch, highlights include machines from the Alan Dodsworth Collection - all low mileage and single owner motorcycles, to be sold with no reserve, including the 1955 Vincent Rapide Series D, estimate £20,000-25,000. The sale will also feature a single family ownership from new 1910 FN Four-Cylinder, only recently disinterred from its resting place, estimate £10,000-14,000; the ex-Bill Smith, John Hartle, Thruxton 500 Class Winning, 1961 Honda CB72, estimate £3,000-5,000; and a 28 miles from new, 1989 Suzuki RG500CH Gamma, estimate £5,000-6,000.
In addition to the 200+ motorcycles, Bonhams will also offer over 400 lots of spares and memorabilia over the weekend.
