Norman Hyde has expanded his range of hard luggage for post-1999 Bonnevilles to include a system for the Triumph Thruxton. While the Thruxton is designed to capture the essence of the café racer look, its 865cc air-cooled power plant is the most powerful of Triumph’s twin-cylinder line up and will certainly tempt many owners to go touring. Hyde has developed his system in conjunction with Italian luggage specialists Givi and these are the first, and quite possibly the only, option for fitting cases to the Bonneville available in the UK.  His pannier racks are designed to accept Givi's Monokey hard luggage, which means that a single key not only locks the cases shut but also secures them to the racks. The Hyde racks have a black "powder coat" finish and fit directly to existing mounting points without the need to modify the machine. They are manufactured in the UK and incorporate stems so that the cases do not obscure the indicators.

Hyde and his design team in Warwick also offer a classic chrome rear carrier rack that includes an integral grab rail, which will be a welcome addition for pillion riders. A matching 45-litre Givi case (sufficient to hold two full face helmets) can be mounted on the rack with ease.

The addition of hard luggage greatly increases the bike's carrying ability, bringing total potential capacity to a whopping 117 litres, and is more secure and weather resistant than the soft luggage options currently available.  It also allows a pillion to be carried without restricting space or legroom. The pannier racks sell for £145.70 for the pair and can carry either 21L Givi cases (£123.38/pair) or 36L cases (at £246.75/pair). The chrome rack retails for £105.75 inc. VAT and the 45L top case costs £151.57 including fittings.
