Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha lead rider Tommy Hill is gearing up for action as a wildcard in the Corona Extra FIM World Superbike Championship round at Brands Hatch this weekend. Today (Friday 4 August) the 21 year old Lingfield youngster will be on track for free practice at 1030 and in qualifying practice at 1415.
Since his incredible pole position in the last British round of the World Superbike Championship at Silverstone, Tommy has been growing in confidence and getting stronger round on round in his BSB meetings. After a third place podium spot at Snetterton in June and consistently running in the top flight of riders Tommy is hoping for another top performance this weekend.
Tommy Hill said:"With the World Superbike Championship being a same make tyre series, it is more of a level playing field. Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha has been developing the bike and Pirelli working on the tyres and we have been getting improvements round on round. I know I am feeling fitter, more confident and stronger than ever before so I should be in an even better position to do well here at Brands. It is my local track and my family are here to support me and I know the British fans will get behind me. Us Brits love the underdog and I proved last time at Silverstone that the wildcard can still have a chance. There is no real pressure on me. I just want to put in a performance I am proud of and hopefully that will thank the sponsors, the team and the fans who have all been amazing so far this season."
