Whether you ride on the road or the track a well-lubricated drive chain will not only prolong the life of expensive-to-replace components, it will also help the engine to deliver its power to the rear wheel. Poorly lubricated chains will overheat, causing them to stretch and increasing friction on the sprockets, which will wear down more quickly, all of which affects the chain’s ability to drive the rear wheel.

Worse still, the O-rings in modern chains are liable to perish if insufficiently protected by chain lube.

The choice of chain lube is crucial in motorcycle racing, where every ounce of power counts. Not only is chain lube vital to keep the chain moving freely over the expensive alloy sprockets used for racing motorcycles, it is also important that the lube sticks to the chain and doesn’t fling off onto the rear wheel. During the course of a race the rear tyre sheds rubber as it heats up and if chain lube gets flung from the chain onto the wheel rims, it effectively glues on the tyre debris, which is a nightmare for the technicians to clean off afterwards.

"Q8 Chain Lube stayed on the chain - we noticed the difference from Day One," states Dave Allenby, chief engine builder at Airwaves Ducati.

Q8Oils Chain Lube is a synthetic, high quality, high adhesion spray lubricant specifically formulated for chains and linkages of all motorcycles as well as quads, karts and other chain driven vehicles.  When sprayed Q8 Chain Lube is initially a free-flowing lubricant that penetrates into the vital inner pins and bushes of the chain links, where it cushions against shock loading. Q8 Chain Lube quickly thickens to provide a non-fling coating that seals the chain and prevents the ingress of dirt and water.

The secret lies in the thixotropic behaviour of Q8 Chain Lube; it is naturally thick and tacky but becomes thinner and free-flowing when shaken, providing ease of use and efficient application to the chain.  The result is excellent adhesion to the chain and resistance to flinging off the chain.
Q8Oils Chain Lube is available in a 400ml aerosol and sells in the shops for £7.99 inc. VAT.

A handy tip is to apply chain lube AFTER a run, while chain is warm, so that it penetrates the links. If you spray it onto a cold chain it is more prone to flinging off.
