The winner of the 2007 Motor Cycle News Fantasy Road Race League is Wayne Hillier from County Durham, who collected his £8000 Rizla Suzuki Replica GSX-R600 this week just in time for Christmas.
The 30-year-old roofer has already sold his Kawasaki ZZ-R1400 in anticipation of his hard-won prize bike that was presented by MCN’s Fantasy Road Race League prize sponsor, Plantec Holdings, a leading claims management company that services bike insurers and brokers.
“I entered five teams and it took a lot of research to compete at the front,” explained Wayne. “I needed to stay up late watching the internet for practice and qualifying results, checking the weather and picking the riders who I thought would be best given the conditions at the time.
“There was a little bit of stress due to the late nights. With only six transfer windows I had to get my team selection right and would leave pressing the button until the last minute to make my selection so others couldn’t see what I had done and copy me. I’ve never won anything like this in the past though, it’s great.”
Wayne, who reads MCN every week, won the competition in his second year of entering and is planning to keep the resplendent Rizla Suzuki as he considers himself a follower of all race teams, although he particularly likes Valentino Rossi in MotoGP, Nori Haga in WSB and Shakey Byrne in BSB.
“It’s a pleasure to provide this Rizla Suzuki Replica GSX-R600 to such an enthusiastic winner,” explained Plantec’s Suzanne Walsh. “It is a fantastic competition and one that is taken very seriously by entrants – as it should be when you see the prizes on offer. Well done Wayne, he’s out of this world happy with it and I hope he enjoys riding the bike!”
