KTM arrived in the Brands Hatch paddock for what proved to be a close fought final round of the Super Duke Battle. The warm October weather a fitting end to a superb year of racing.

Qualifying saw the first two rows of the grid separated by only half-a-second, lead by pole sitter Patrick McDougall, with the front row completed by Pauli Pekkanen, Kelvin Reilly and Dave Wood.

McDougall lead the race for the first 3 laps then Francis Williamson took over until lap 7, where it was Wood who again proved his class, taking over the lead to the finish, closely followed by Kelvin Reilly and Williamson. Having already clinched the Championship, Pekkanen was unfortunately unable to ride due to technical problems on the start line.

All attention now turns to next years Championship as KTM announced provisional details for 2008 at Brands Hatch. The Battle will take place on the 2008 Super Duke R model, which is a more race-orientated version of the standard model. The R model features a single seat, orange frame, sportier suspension, more power and a steering damper as standard.

Again as a BSB support race series, the Battle will take place at 11 rounds across the UK, again including the MotoGP at Donington.

For just £8,500 (plus entry fees and tyres), riders will get:

  • 990 Super Duke R (2008 Model)
  • Full Race Kit
  • Spare Wheel Kit
  • Gearing Kit

Riders will need a Clubman licence or above to participate and with no further bike modifications allowed, the 2008 Battle should be even closer and hard-fought that this years.
