Words by Rob Barber.

Thursday Night Practice was quicker again.

Thursday night practice had a hold up of about 30mins due to road traffic accidents and one person suffering a heart attack which meant all 3 helicopters where being used. Until at least one was free we couldn’t start. Weather looked really good though.

I started off with the Robinsons of Rochdale Triumph I was really eager to get away as you can see on the short movie of the start. I made some more changes to the Kais Suspension which helped again. I really seemed to be catching and passing a lot of people on the first lap.  Second flying lap I had some clear track and I really tried hard in a couple of places like Crosby and bray hill to hold her flat out, which I managed.

Next I went out on the MTC Exhaust 750 Suzuki. After really string some good sections together on the Triumph it was time to work on that on the 750. I had a steady opening lap and on the second I felt good so I pushed hard. Really scared me in places as I was in a gear high that I’ve been before so all my references were to late, so time to recalibrate. Load of fly’s on that last lap as well.

Anyway it was a good qualifying session with no crashes.  On the Robinsons of Rochdale Triumph I ended up 54th with a 20.29.86min 110.442mph 4th fastest Triumph and newcomer on the supersport sheet. On MTC Exhaust Suzuki 750 finished 24th with a 20.00:35mins 113.157mph fastest 750 and 2nd fastest newcomer on the superstock sheets. I’ve already qualified for the Superstock and Junior races so hopefully I will go quicker again on Friday and I might even get an entry into the Senior at the end of the week.
