After the start of the championship at Qatar in the desert night, the MotoGP circus comes back to Europe to start round two of the championship in Spain at the wonderful circuit of Jerez de la Frontera on Sunday 30th March. JiR Team Scot has both riders in excellent spirits, thanks to their good results at the first round of the series. Both Andrea Dovizioso with his Honda RC212V and Yuki Takahashi with his 250GP two-stroke Honda have both shown that they can fight without fear of anyone against the best riders in each of the categories. They are both now looking forward to getting more good results at the Andalusian track, as the team morale is high thanks to the excellent work they have already done at the track in winter testing.

Gianluca Montiron – Director JiR Team Scot

“The second race of the season presents a lot of interesting points. Firstly this is the start of the European rounds of the championship and also the return to the standard way of running a race – that means during daylight hours and in the sunshine, after the night race of Qatar! We also now have two points to prove: firstly to confirm the good start to both championships we have made at the first round, and also to check that the technical characteristics of our bikes suit Jerez after the many days of winter testing we have spent there. After the first race we are highly motivated to improve our performance and to achieve our ambitions by getting to the podium, but we have to consider also that the other riders will have the same motivation as us! A return to a day race may affect our performance as we will be in hotter conditions and the riders and team have a lot of work to do over the weekend, but the y are all ready for the challenge and capable, as always!”

Cirano Mularoni – Team Manager JiR Team Scot

“The Jerez circuit has been one of the main ones we have visited during testing and with the MotoGP bike we have done well there and always been in the top positions. Also, with the 250cc bike, we received some very important information from the tests, so we have high expectations. Following the first race of the year both team and riders have very high morale, so I think we will be in the condition to do a very good race. Andrea doesn’t like the track so much, but with the MotoGP bike he was always going very fast there in testing, meanwhile Yuki did a lot of hard work to come back to his best condition after his winter injury.”

Andrea Dovizioso – Rider, JiR Team Scot MotoGP

“The Jerez circuit is not my favourite one, but with my MotoGP bike I did very well there in testing as I was riding consistently and I did some very good times. I’m confident that we can do very well and now we have done the first race I have learnt a lot of things that you can only learn while racing with other riders on the track at the same time. It will be a very hard weekend, because the other riders want to give their maximum performance – more so than at the championship tests. I think we have a good technical base set-up but during practice we have to work on the braking of the bike and also the acceleration in low the RPM regimes from around 2000-4000rpm.”

Yuki Takahashi – Rider, JiR Team Scot 250GP

“The first race was very important for me, because I was looking for confirmation about my physical condition I’m very satisfied of the result as Doha is a very difficult circuit for us. Jerez is very good for the Honda’s characteristics and also I like the track a lot. In the corners I’m very strong but perhaps not so strong on the straight. In the last few rights, I’m very quick and that shows that it’s important to get a good setting for Jerez’s combination of corners. With the team we did some good work in the tests and we are ready. I want to do a good race both for me and for the technicians that have always done an excellent job for me!”
