The International Six Days Enduro is known as the Olympics of Motorcycling, as it pits more than a score of six-rider national teams against one another in the World Trophy competition. International Six Days Enduro 2005, is available now on DVD, an all-new release from powersport specialists Duke, brings viewers close-up to all the best action in competition and behind-the-scenes, as the best riders in the business go head to head representing their native lands.
For the third time in four years, the I.S.D.E. 2005 was held in Eastern Europe with the mountains of Slovakia providing a tough and testing challenge for more than 200 riders from over 20 countries around the world. This time it was the Italians who topped the results table, breaking the three-year grip that the Finnish team had held on the trophy. Finland had to settle for second, while third was the Swedish team, with Great Britain in fourth.
In individual competition, there were successes for Yamaha riders in both the lightweight and middleweight classes - Poland’s Bartosz Obluski took the Enduro 1 category, while Australian ace, Stefan Merriman, won the Enduro 2 class. Finland’s Samuli Aro was second behind Merriman and ahead of England’s Paul Edmondson. But it was another British rider, David Knight from the Isle of Man, who dominated the Enduro 3 heavyweight class. David emphasised his World Championship quality by also taking the honours as the best individual rider in the whole competition.
