Honda’s new-for-2007 CBR600RR has now been unveiled to the world and it promises to be the most advanced 600cc machine in the Supersports class. The CBR600 – which celebrates its 20th birthday in 2007 – is completely new from stem to stern and features a host of technological advances handed down from the MotoGP championship-winning RC211V in preparation for its blistering assault on the roads and tracks of Europe next year.

In comes a sleek and slippery aerodynamically refined fairing, a wide, aggressive snout-mounted air-intake and an all-new, lighter and more powerful 600cc Dual Sequential Fuel-Injected inline four-cylinder engine featuring the smallest dimensions in its class. The motor itself is almost a kilo less than the previous model’s, but the important thing is that the two-stage fuel-injection system and ECU programming give the new CBR much more ‘pull’ in the 7000-10,000 rev-range than the previous model. All this helps to add up to a total power output of an amazing 118bhp.

Chassis-wise, the CBR600RR design team have worked towards a lighter machine than ever before with the aim being an eight kilo reduction in overall weight. This results in an amazing dry weight of just 155 kilos! For quick-turning ability the new 2007 bike is also 22mm shorter than the older model and now features a new Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) to keep the front-end of the bike securely planted on the road.

The CBR600 family of machines has won the last four World Supersport titles and the last three British Supersport titles. The current CBR600RR leads the British championship by a country-mile with just two rounds to go!

No price has yet been fixed for this latest middleweight missile, but it will be available in the UK from March 2007. For more information on the new machine, go to: www.honda.co.uk/newContender.
