Thanks to continuing massive support from competitors toward the Moto GB alliance, a unique Supermoto event has been arranged at Silverstone Circuit on Sunday 24th September which sees members of NORA Sport battle against Southern Supermoto members for the honours of the Supermoto Masters Cup. This is in effect a domestic “Supermoto Des Counties” with the pride of the North / South at stake!
Between them, the clubs have some seriously talented riders, all of whom hold a Moto GB Competition licence and appropriate club membership and all of whom would be eligible ‘for duty’. These include S1 Grand Prix riders; Christian Iddon, Sam Warren and Matt Winstanley, plus top national level riders including; Jay Smith, Ady Smith, Andy Mitchell, Keith Farmer, James Addy, Chris Hodgson, George Clements, Ricky Higgs, Lee Jones, Dean Hillier, Tim Booth etc. etc. The exact composition of each club’s squad will depend on rider availability / date clashes as September is a busy time in the 2006 Supermoto calendar.
The choice of Silverstone as a venue is an attempt at a ‘neutral’ ground at which to host the competition, as it is roughly equidistant for competitors from both extremes of the geographical spread of members. The fact that Silverstone has never previously hosted a Supermoto event continues the Moto GB maxim of ‘more choice and innovation’ for its competition members.
NORA Sport will actually host and organise the meeting although no special treatment will be afforded to their own members during the no-doubt fiercely contested races. In addition, NORA Sport will also provide supporting races for Quads and Superlites.
Further details of the unique event will be added to the Moto GB website very shortly, but riders eager not to miss out can download a specific event entry form as of today.
