In order to face the challenge of the 8th Round of the World Superbike Championship Pirelli, as always, started planning weeks before, as part of the endless work entailed in being the official tyre supplier for the all classes - and thus the entire paddock.
The needs of the Brands Hatch paddock for Pirelli means:
*9 trucks and 30 personnel
*4 classes
*142 riders
*Almost 6000 tyres (5866 in total) of which:
SBK:4 Front + 4 Rear solutions + 1 Qualifier: a total of 27 fronts and 30 rears for the riders to choose their personal allocation from + 3 qualifiers.
All are Pirelli DIABLO SBK slick 16,5” tyre:SSP:2 Front + 3 Rear solutions: 14 front and 19 rear tyres to choose from.
Pirelli DIABLO SUPERCORSA DOT 17” tyre:STK 600: Single solution - 3 sets for the whole weekend.
Pirelli DIABLO CORSA III DOT 17” tyre:STK 1000: Single solution - 4 sets for the whole weekend.
Pirelli DRAGON SUPERCORSA PRO DOT 17” tyre:During the race weekend almost 2000 tyres will be used.
So far in 2006 Pirelli has developed, solely for World Superbike, almost 20 different solutions, undergoing more than 10 test sessions with the designated development teams.
