Team Husky Chix rider Rebecca Bateman finished a credible second overall in the Female Senior Unlimited A-grade class. As one of the youngest competitors in the field Rebecca was determined to stay ahead of the pack to build on her 5th placing from round 1.
Rebecca finished 7th, 2nd and 2nd in her three races and was disappointed by her 7th place in race 1. In race 2, Rebecca got off to a flyer, grabbing the hole-shot with her biggest competitor, Tamara by her side. The position between Rebecca and Tamara settled by turn 2 with Tamara hitting the lead and finishing in front of Rebecca at the end of the race. Race 3 saw Rebecca on her TC250 go into turn 1 in 2nd place which she held until the end of the race.
Tamara Gray won the A-grade class with Rebecca in second and Keira Smith rounding out the podium in third. Bateman's teammate and Women's B-grade rider Jena Grimsey went one better from her round 1 result, this time finishing just off the podium in 4th place. Jena like Rebecca crashed in race one going for an overtaking move, eventually finishing in 7th spot.
Jena made a great start on her TC250 in Race 2 and finished in 2nd behind Sharon Hill. In race 3 Jena had a bad start and couldn't pick her way through the field, eventually finishing in 6th position. Sharon Hill ended the day as the Round 2 winner, followed by Emma Raynor (2nd) and Tania Miller (3rd) with Jena placing 4th. Rebecca and Jena are now gearing themselves up for the Thunder X round to be held this Sunday June 4, 2006 at Mt Perry in Queensland.
The next Husqvarna SE QLD Women's Off Road Series will be held at Roma, September 24, 2006.
