Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha's lead rider Tommy Hill was third fastest at the Official BSB test at Croft yesterday, just a fraction behind Leon Haslam and Jonny Rea. The ever impressive Hill finished quicker than current BSB Champion Gregorio Lavilla and experienced riders Michael Rutter and Shakey Byrne. Hill's fastest lap of 1:21.035 came in the afternoon session.

Tommy's Team mates Billy McConnell and Kieran Clarke also went well and their quickest times put them in 11th and 9th respectively. Virgin Mobile Cup 2005 champion, McConnell, who only got back from visiting family in Australia the day before the Test, showed that he is still a force to be reckoned with a best time of 1:22.514. 21 year old Kieran Clarke, who has been looking for his pace all year, put in a fastest time of 1:22.282. All three of the young Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha riders were pleased with how the test went.

Tommy Hill said:

"I am still on a high from getting a podium spot at Snetterton and I have been able to get some time off to relax so I am feeling really good. To be third fastest just shows how competitive Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha's package is."

Billy McConnell said:

"It's great to get back on a bike! I think I was feeling a bit fatigued after a 16 hour flight and I know I can go faster. The set up and tyres are feeling really ace and I am looking forward to Knockhill."

Kieran Clarke said:

"This has been my best test so far this year. I have finally found my form, it's really boosted my confidence and I can't wait to get to Scotland and race at Knockhill."

Team Manager Rob Mac said:

"The test has gone really well, so much so that we only feel the need to stay for one day. All three guys have shown how quick they can go and Tommy was flying! Billy has learnt what it feels like to go round Croft on a Superbike and Kieran has shown what he is capable of which will no doubt give him a boost for Knockhill."
