Brendan Roberts will join forces with the Buildbase Ducati Team and compete in the remainder of the Metzeler National Superstock series commencing at Oulton Park on the 15th July. Discussions have taken place between the Ducati Xerox Junior Team and the British based Buildbase Ducati Team to run the youngster in both the European Superstocks and the British Superstocks for the rest of the year.

Roberts who is the current National Superstock Champion moved into the World series at the start of 2007 to compete on the brand new Ducati 1098 in the FIM 1000 Superstock Cup with the Ducati Xerox Junior Team. Sadly due to injury at the start of the season he has been unable to show the form which he demonstrated in 2006, where he gained six wins and eight podium finishes in the National Championship. Struggling with a serious wrist injury Roberts is eager to get some more track time and learn more about the 1098 in the hope to improve his Championship position in the European series.

A stunning win at Silverstone in the European Championship in the soaking wet conditions proved that he can still get the results and as his wrist improves the results are sure to follow. Commenting he said “It’s been a bit of a nightmare start to the 2007 season for me, getting injured so early in the season has proved a major set back as it’s not allowed me to get track time and learn the new bike. Riding back in the UK on tracks I know should build my confidence and also give me a full understanding of how the 1098 works. I’d like to thank my team, Ducati Xerox Junior Team and all at the JHP Buildbase Ducati team for allowing me to have this opportunity and hope that I can get some strong results in both Championships.”

Roberts’ first outing onboard the Buildbase Ducatis’ will be at the official MCRCB test at Croft on Tuesday July 3rd and his first race back in the British series will be Oulton Park. Thereafter he will be jetting to and from the UK and European circuits providing the much-needed track and development time for both himself and his two respective teams.
