Vemar has introduced an Alex de Angelis replica version of their top-of-the-range VSREV race specification helmet in black to celebrate the 24-year old Italian’s move into the MotoGP class, riding for Gresini Honda.
The de Angelis replica is produced to the highest standards in Vemar’s modern factory in Italy. The shell is manufactured from TRICOM, a composite material blending carbon and aramidic fibres with fibreglass, formed by hydrojet robots for a lighter product that weighs only 1390 grams. The bold de Angelis paint scheme is applied in an automated paint shop with UV drying process for a perfect finish.
Sizes X-Small to Medium have a smaller external shell than sizes Large to X-Large, ensuring a more accurate and comfortable fit, which contributes to the compact design that in turn helps to minimise wind resistance. Cooling is provided by adjustable vents on the chin and brow, with adjustable exhaust vents on the rear.
The visor is a full race specification type for 2008, manufactured from 2.2mm sheet Lexan and with a lock-stud to keep it firmly shut at speed. The quick-release mechanism is replaced with a neat alloy clasp that can be removed in seconds using a hex key.
Inside is a removable and washable lining in distinctive two-tone shade, treated with Antimicrobial Sanitized Protection so it stays fresh. To ensure the fit is maintained, the cheek pads are manufactured from polyurethane ‘memory’ foam that, unlike traditional foam padding, retains its shape even after extended use. It is fastened with a double D-ring.
The Vemar VSREV de Angelis carries the ACU Gold Badge and is available priced at £199.99. The company also has a long association with Kevin Curtain, racing MV Agusta in Australian Superbikes this year, and a replica of his 2007 helmet is available at £199.99.
