Despite returning from a broken wrist, Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki  MSS Discovery Kawasaki rider Michael Rutter slotted his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R in 12th place for tomorrow’s two 17-lap Bennetts British Superbike races. His team-mate Stuart Easton spent the day refining the race set-up of his Ninja ZX-6R machine and eventually qualified in eighth. The Scot is confident of a good result, whatever the weather in the 16-lap MAXXIS British Supersport race.

Michael Rutter, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R (12th – 1m 37.252s)
“To be honest I think 12th isn’t too bad considering this is my first race back from a wrist injury. At such a physical track like Oulton it is a bit of an issue as I can’t reel-off a lot of laps and that’s what we’re struggling a bit with at the moment, but I’ve simply got to get on with it. On the positive side, our race set-up isn’t too bad, so it’s a case really of simply seeing how I get on in the first race tomorrow.”

Stuart Easton, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R (8th – 1m 40.861s)
“It’s a similar story as to Knockhill: on race tyres and race set-up we’re in the ballpark, give or take a couple of tenths. We’re getting there with qualifiers and working in the right direction, but it seems that the extra grip gives us a few handling issues. I could do with a little more torque off the corners and that would possibly help eradicate a few of our chassis issues. Wet or dry though, I’m confident and I’m really chasing that good result now. I’m looking for a podium: the whole team are desperate for it and so am I!”

Jack Valentine, Race Team Manager
“Michael is struggling a little with his wrist, so we’re trying to get the bike set-up to be a little more comfortable for him. We’re having some gearing issues but overall the bike’s pretty good so we wont make any major changes. We hope to see him have a good warm-up and see what he can do in the first race. Yet again Stuart’s got a good race set-up and is as quick as anybody on race tyres. If he can hang in there we should be aiming for a podium.”

Nick Morgan, Team owner
“Michael’s doing well to be in 12th considering this is his first race back from two broken bones in his wrist. All we can do really is suck it and see when it comes to that first race tomorrow. Let’s hope he’s up to it. With Stuart we’ve got the same sort of situation as at Knockhill, which is very positive. We’ve still got issues with our speed on qualifiers, but he’s got a good race set up and we desperately want our first podium of 2007!”
