Back in September the Airwaves Ducati team rolled out of the garage looking a little different, as they became the Black Mint Airwaves Ducati team for the final two rounds of the 2006 British Superbike season. Greg and Leon raced on Black Mint Airwaves Ducati 999F06’s and the team changed from their distinctive red colours to mark the launch of Wrigley’s new Black Mint flavour chewing gum.
In celebration of becoming the Black Mint Airwaves Ducati team title sponsors, Wrigley’s Airwaves, gave fans a fantastic opportunity to win the world’s only Official Black Mint Airwaves Ducati replica. A fully branded Black Mint Airwaves Ducati 749 mono, limited edition Black Mint Merchandise signed by the Airwaves Ducati riders and a KEF Home Cinema speaker system were given away in the October edition of GQ magazine.
We received hundreds of entries but there could only be one winner; Wayne Jackson from Sheffield. He took delivery of his Black Mint Airwaves Ducati 749 mono and KEF Home Cinema speakers last week and was delighted with his prize saying;
“I can’t believe it, it’s fantastic. The bike looked so amazing in GQ but to actually see the bike and know that it is mine is so cool, as well as the wicked set of KEF speakers too; it’s just crazy! When I was first told that I had won I didn’t believe it because I never win anything but obviously I’m delighted with it! I have supported the Airwaves Ducati team for a while so to think that I will be riding around on the only Black Mint replica in the world is a really awesome feeling, I just can’t wait to get going!”
The Black Mint activity was a real hit with the fans and a great success for Wrigley’s. Having run it over two of the most exciting rounds of the championship the title sponsors received great feedback about it with the Wrigley’s Airwaves Marketing Director, Toby Baker, saying;
“We were delighted with the response that we had to the Black Mint activity. It was great fun for the team to race as the Black Mint Airwaves Ducati team for the final two rounds of the season and it was great for us to be able to run promotions like the Black Mint competition in GQ. The whole Airwaves team is really pleased for the Black Mint 749 mono winner and we hope that he thoroughly enjoys his prize and stays safe whilst riding it.”
