The strong rainstorm fallen on the Sepang circuit around one hour this afternoon made the track completely impracticable. The Race Direction, after having attempted to postpone the qualifying session twice, decided, in the end, to cancel it for safety reasons because of the impossibility to dry the corners number seven and twelve when the rest of the track was about to be already dry.

The starting grid of tomorrow’s Malaysian Grand Prix was therefore decided on the fastest time set by each rider during the three hours of the free practice sessions.

Makoto Tamada, who fell this morning on corner number eleven, will start from the thirteenth position on the starting grid with the lap time clocked during yesterday’s second free practice session.

Yesterday the lap time of 2’02.918” permitted Makoto to finish fifth, while today the impossibility to use qualifiers definitely penalized him.
The Konica Minolta Honda Team hopes to obtain a good race result as the Japanese rider yesterday showed to be able to turn with a remarkable pace.
