Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) and Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) scored points in each 25-lap race at Brands, after two races held in hot conditions at the classically sculpted English track. Laconi had to make a change in his tyre choice between races to post finishes of 8th and 9th, while Nieto suffered a series of setbacks after a bright start, and had to settle for only a 12th and 13th.
In the championship Laconi is 12th, on 98 points, with Nieto one place behind, on 65. The next race takes place after the traditional summer break, at Eurospeedway Lausitz on September 9.
Regis Laconi:“The start was not so good and that made things difficult from then on. I had a bit of a problem to get my feeling back after riding the new bike in Japan, but I was surprised at our results. Eighth and ninth is not so bad I suppose, but last year this track was just about the best and this year it is not that way at all. I used a soft front in race one and it was destroyed, I could do no more. In race two I put the hardest one on and it was a bit better, I had more confidence if not more speed. It was hard to turn the bike today. The track was difficult but the results were not so bad.”
Fonsi Nieto: “Not such a good weekend because the bike was only working well on the first day. On the second day I had a crash and lost some time and after this it was not so good. The bike didn’t work the way I want and the engine lost some edge today so I could do no more. This is not one of my favourite tracks but I think I can do better than I did today.”
