Team GP Husqvarna rider, David Baffeleuf, extended his Supermoto Unlimited Class points lead at the 6th and 7th rounds of the AMA Championship in Denver, Colorado at the Invesco Field Stadium. Baffeleuf took his SMR 510 to a 2nd place finish on day 1, and on day 2, David put on a dominating performance in the pouring rain gapping the field by some 30 seconds, bringing home an impressive victory.
He was joined on the podium by teammate, Gary Trachy, who took 3rd place on his SMR 510, after a disappointing first day, when a pile-up in the 2nd corner put him out of day 1 results. David now leads the championship by 8 points and Gary sits in 4th. 450 Class team rider, Troy Herfoss, had an up and down weekend, qualifying in 6th on day 1, and 7th on day 2. Day 1 saw Troy running a strong 4th in race 1, when he was forced to pull off track with a broken exhaust mount, fatigued from a crash in practice.
Troy finished 5t h in race 2. Day 2 saw Troy finish 7th in race 1, and after a brilliant start in race 2, he was running 2nd behind race leader, Jeff Ward, when he had a fall in one of the super-slippery left-hand corners. Troy remounted in 13th and worked his way up to finish 11th. 250 team rider, Alex Thiebault, also had a rough weekend, having trouble finding his early season speed.
Although, the results for the weekend have brought him back up to 3rd in the championship. The team will now prepare for the next round on September 22-23, 2006, at Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
